Those who follow the progress of digital audio will be aware of Varèse: the pinnacle of British pioneer dCS’s achievements, a multi-box system pushing digital sound to extraordinary new heights.
While other dCS components frequently delight listeners at global audio shows, dCS has held Varèse back from demonstrations at such events – until now. The Happening is the first public audio event at which the complete Varèse system will be experienced in all its sonic glory by those fortunate enough to have a ticket.
This is not simply the latest flagship from one of digital audio’s most revered innovators; Varèse is a statement of intent, a no-compromise assault on the boundaries of what digital reproduction can achieve.
Built without concession to cost, convention or convenience, Varèse brings together dCS’s latest-generation Ring DAC APEX technology, a completely new digital architecture and extraordinarily sophisticated processing in a reference system designed to reveal everything contained within a recording – and then disappear from the equation entirely.
The result is breathtaking. Music acquires a sense of physical presence and effortless scale that challenges every preconception about digital sound. Microdynamic nuance emerges from silence; textures become palpable; space extends with uncanny openness; and performers occupy the soundstage with a solidity and dimensionality that can feel almost uncannily real. Yet for all its technical sophistication, Varèse never sounds like technology. It simply brings you closer to the music.
For those who demand the ultimate, this is a rare chance to hear digital audio at its absolute zenith.
And there’s more…
Transparent Audio, America’s foremost audio cable manufacturer, has worked in close collaboration with dCS to develop a digital cable specifically for the Varèse system. The result is ACTUS – the product of hundreds of hours spent listening, experimenting and testing, with the Varèse digital playback system providing the ultimate reference.
So, The Happening offers not one first but two: not only will this be the first time you can experience the complete Varèse system at a public audio event, it will also be the first opportunity to hear it partnered with ACTUS – a collaboration engineered to extract every last drop of performance from the world’s most advanced digital playback system.
